MY GARDEN, SHARE YOURS

My suggestion is to make your layer of gravel not too deep. I'd keep it to about 2" to 3" at most. Otherwise it becomes hard to walk on since your feet will tend to sink in.
Did you put anything like mulch and such under the gravel Serg? Thanks.

I am looking to build a garden with my new house, I was thinking of buying 10 tons of pea gravel and covering my whole backyard with it, but putting plastic wrap underneath it, does anyone have a guide or recommendations before I start?
I would not do this. Rocks do no feed birds and heat up your garden, and reduce humidity.
But then, I prefer wilder gardens where animals enjoy spending time.

I would use a heavy duty weed block that allowed water to pass through, plastic would create a pool effect.
Won't I want it to channel down to a french drain or swale to run it away from the foundation?

My house sits on loam and is relatively humid because its on a high water table, so wouldn't reducing the humidity be a good thing?

The trees under lights in the cold room are going to be so jealous!
Maybe this is a stupid question (probably is). I thought that unless it was 40 degrees or over, they didn't need light. If I propose putting lights in the garage for my azaleas and deciduous, I may be flirting with divorce. It has taken some years for him to stop complaining about the trop's inside with lights.

Those lights literally have only been turned on this week since the temperature in the cold room can’t be kept in the 30s most of the time anymore. It’s the first time I’ve had those lights on since early December.

Thanks! I've been married to long to have to deal with a divorce over trees.;)

Forest of cypress knees. Captured by a poured concrete wall it’s putting them out profusely. However it’s found a way out and into the yard. Mowing keeps them at bay.
