the tree doesnt have great taper, i created a split in the main trunk that should help to give the illusion of better taper over time.
also, the removal of wood from this vigorous area will stop excessive thickening...
a lot of people think we carve trees just for 'character', this isnt true
Hackberry in development, i think ill get one more flush out of this.
considerable difference in growth on all trees this season. we had that two month heat wave last season, this season growth hasnt been as rampant
back to the Hackberry, the leaves have reduced nicely in one season, i didnt think the leaves would reduce as well as the Chinese hackberry. twigging up and getting dense now, the species is notorious for ultra fine twigging.
