PXL_20230330_211222911.jpgPicked up this Juniper 03/20/2023 from my local nursery in the unwanted pile for $10.00
There was lots of healthy growth and great movement. I decided to get it fully hydrated and well fed before I worked on it.

PXL_20230330_221901537~2.jpg04/11/2023: removed most of the lower branches and bent the left branch back over itself . Luckily the branch was very flexible and it was easy work. I also wired the top branches to create more fullness. Root pruning was very minor. Basically just enough to open things up a bit and to reposition the tree into more of an upright position. Not much more will be done this year besides keeping it healthy. Hoping to report next year into a more appropriate soil.PXL_20230330_221917091~2.jpg

I love what you did with the trunk. I'm not whining, but I'm surprised at little imagination I have when designing my own trunks: I aways seem to make S-curves.

Thanks! I have to admit that this tree kind of designed itself. It was definitely the fastest I went from nursery stock to a "finished tree" before. It definitely has some great future potential still.
Luckily the nursery has about 50 more trees similar to this one. I might just offer them a discount lump sum and take them all.

Maybe more bending, and go for something like this. Excuse the crude iPhone drawing.

Your wiring isnt very functional though, I wouldnt attempt to bend it that much without redoing the wire at a 45° angle.

Wow I do like what you're saying. Would it be better to let it heal for a while or is it better to do all the damage at once?

I dunno, you dont have your location or zone listed. I’d just do it though.

Kind of. You compressed the whole thing down, which changed the angle of the branch, and pushed it way out. I was picturing it going up more, the way you had it before, and then swooping down and out.

Also, going behind the jin, unless youre changing the front now?
