New to Bonsai from NJ

Thanks! Yeah, Im a plant guy at heart. I just like the slow rolling change.

Some more collected trees from today. Some kind of juniper and some elm/zelkova saplings. They look slightly different than my zelkova and the growth habit is more weepy/lateral so I think maybe an elm. Not many roots on the nicer one... hoping it lives. Most went into the grow bed.

The juniper.... just letting it grow and recover now. Will style in spring. Need to move it to the side of the yard. Its heavy. I think it will survive.

Do you find you have better luck collecting in the fall? Why now, as opposed to spring?

Ive collected in fall before without issue. Especially species not super dependent on roots/water or species which root easily. Also I take the opportunity when I get it no matter what time of the year. I dont repot my own trees in fall but if something is getting ripped out anyway, ill give it a shot.

Makes sense. Will see as it gets a bit more progressed. Just happy with the growth response.

Also collected some root sprouted crepe myrtle and some other bush which I dont know what it is. The crepe myrtles got potted up. Not many roots on them. Hope they do ok. The other bush is not potted. Its in a bin full of mulch to keep it moist. Plan on putting tomorrow.

Seems to have made it through... plenty if buds showing on this tree. By end of this week, Should have leaves all over.
