I rather enjoy making little trees. Have not had a small cascade.

No more mesh or screen, so used some wire and anchored them to 5mm under the pot for stability

I love starting things out just as you've done with this one.
Is that a 5" pot? Don't hesitate to up pot with mostly inorganic in 2 years getting more of the shin each time.
Now put some wiggle in that tail later this year
Have not had a small cascade.
You have a big one?

I do have a larger size

This one is for work (at work):

I have since repotted into smaller terra cotta and wired but seem not to have photos. Will have to take them and share tomorrow when I return to work.

This one I created as my first personal cascade to keep for myself:

My local store restocked on wire this week, so when I acquire more I’ll throw some into a few of my recent trees.

BRJ is very light and airy, so it will be interesting to where it goes and how it shapes

Cool cascade. I have a very full one that's about three feet long, has just been growing in same nursery pot since 2022, May be the year to repot it! BTW, did you ever do any collecting in Virginia? I'd live to in maryland but haven't managed yet.

Nice. this one is well on it's way... if I may offer a suggestion. Lose one of the cascading branches. Choose one and make that the cascading branch from which to develop pads.

Agree with NYbonsai12.
Nice start though. Procumbens make great cascades, often growing in that style on their own so they look more natural in that style

Will do, and I’ll make that chop either tomorrow or in the Fall. I wonder if right now is best.

you can prune one of those now. There should be plenty enough foliage from the rest of the tree that it wont be a problem
Will chop first thing tomorrow morning when I return to work (probably removing the one on the right, bowing outward)

Sorry to ping you again but forgot to add, wire the branch to be jinned into some shape so that when it dies and dries it has an interesting shape.
You can add just a little curve to make it nice
