I've finally got around to the first steps in restoring this massive American Beech - was collected in 2017 and about 28 year old. It sat here for a while due to family loss but now it's on the long road to making something of it.

you have me wondering.. Why did you not cover the roots, especially the cut ends? This way they will always remain cut ends instead of them sprouting new roots.
