What happened to the repot you were planning on this?

Simply havent done it. The tree is very happy in the native soil so far and is growing well each flush. Plan is next spring. I need to find a nice pot/container still for it. Ill probably mark it for next year. I dont have a heavy repot load right now.

Wire was biting in on this so figured it was a good time to address.

First, i weeded.. a lot of spurge and grass came out.

Next removed wire and pinpointed some spots where new wire was needed.

While removing, some bark peeled a little. Covered with cut paste to help bridge. (Photo above). This branch needs to be reduced next year and wited back. Planning on repotting so will likely reduce at time of repot.

End of year. Definitely want to repot but it's happy. I really just want to get the small tree moved really bad and adjust potting angle slightly. Unwired, cleaned up... Definitely have some good plans for it but the repot is key. I'll want it to rest afterwards.

Nice roots.. you have the start of a nice nebari. I would be tempted to trim those top three roots from the last picture.. I think would leave it nice all around.
Where ate you moving the smaller tree to?

I actually did trim the two smaller roots. The larger roor from that clump is lower than appears and, after repot, I think will be ok.

Smaller tree is just moving behind the larger trunk in the same general location.

Repotted today. For whatever reason the top of the larger tree died off. The repot confirmed that the two trees are in fact fused together. I decided to use the back view as the new front. This means a new apex will need to be wired and some new angles chosen. I remove the majority of the field soil but didnt remove too much root mass. Maybe a 25% reduction.
