Two years ago, I tossed some extra Chinese and/or Himalayan pine seeds in pot of garden soil.

Along with the pines, this tree volunteered itself and has outgrown every other tree I have. My ID app says it's a Tropical Ash (Fraxinus uhdei). I think the mother tree is in my neighbor's yard.

I have not been able to find any info on it as far as bonsai goes, so I'm shooting from the hip on this one. If anyone can offer advice, I'm all ears.

Last spring or so, I wired a little movement into the trunk. It very quickly thickened and caused some pretty bad wire scars. It just grew so dang quick.

I also pruned the leader right above two buds, which quickly grew. After just sitting there over winter, it is now beginning to grow again.

It has pretty decent taper already, but I want to chop it much lower to go for some back budding. I'll try to document what happens here.
