Any advice when you work on a tree with a Bonsai pro?

In particular Juniper.

Do you focus on one tree or several?

What should I have on hand?

Thank you for the advice.

It depends!

Local pro? Traveling Pro?

Is the pro going to be doing all the work? Or is he going to be teaching you?

I would have on hand everything you think he might need. He might bring his own tools, but you should be prepared to have wire, pots, soil, etc.

Pros work fast. It wouldn’t hurt to have several trees. That said, have the tree ready. If it’s going to be wired, remove any old wire. Pull weeds off the surface, etc.

Have tables, chairs, turntables, trash bins, water hose, etc handy.

Have fun!

It will be a bit of teaching and observation.

I'll make sure the tree is clean of dirt, bark, and clean live & deadwood.

I'll bring several trees to be safe.

Thank you!

Looks like he likes to do rock plantings and slabs. Do you have those? Is your tree(s) suitable for that style?

I think you would get the most out of the session if you work with him on the things he does best!

Lately he has been promoting his slabs/ rocks and ceramics. He creates those and they are definitely nice.

My favorite work of his revolves around his junipers & Pine trees.

Mostly had to follow him via David Benavente who trained Jan for 4 years.

If I had the chance I would focus on two junipers. Then during break times and such talk about your other trees.
Excellent idea!

I plan to focus on two trees in particular.

That is a great idea.

The two I would like to focus on are the following:
