Went to lowes today to find a small pond liner for my cypress chop project as per @Maiden69. Walking out I saw this guy, the very last juniper at Lowes. Of course it was ugly to the common folk… but to us bonsai nuts…. This is a gift from the bonsai gods Lol!

As a “good boy” and “patient” beginner I’m going to wire to wire to keep shape and just watch this guy grow for a while. First pic the way I found it… second is wired.

"Might" be better to go right with 3 branches that way instead. Also consider biggest surface roots may dictate different planting angle in future. General good idea to dig down and check roots when buying garden store tree;).

Thanks for the tips. Trust me I was forcing myself not to start clipping branches. And you are right. I did not think anything about the roots. I’ll let you know soon as I start digging lol!
