Actually, it is because the site has gotten spammed in the last couple of weeks by the same person hawking eyephones and eyepads. Rather than institute draconian registration limits, I decided just to block those terms for a while until he decides to go elsewhere.

You can spoof an IP if you know what you are doing. The person in question has registered from a different IP each time...
I guess that shows my limited knowledge as far as internet goes...

They must be using a proxy, and using a different one each time.

No, it's an individual. But I'll nip their behavior in the bud - just depends on how intrusive I want to get. I will just keep upping the security until they get tired of me
If I go to full moderation of posts from new members they'll be stuck.

Unbelievable what some will do. If we want Apple products there is an Apple site so why would we check out his site which most likely is a scam?
