Hello!
My japanese maple has slowly started to get some white looking fungus stuff around the nebari/trunk.
How do I get rid of it? Any ideas what it is?

Started after i began fertilizing with biogold.

I think it is probably "stone" from hard tap water. I have also this problem with hard water and some of my trees look similar.

I only used rain water and the tree didnt have this before I got it.

Is there a way to treat that? I think my Chinese elm's root has a similar thing.

Hm... true. Unless there are different types of lichen or the picture on your link is zoomed in, I don't think what the OP or me have is lichen. I think I have seen lichens in the forrest, and those were different (e.g. bigger).

If you want to clean it, I would start with something light. Dilute vinegar and a toothbrush should get it off.

Looks like a normal lichen growth pattern in second picture. I love it when I get lichen on my bonsai.
