Hi Everyone, if this isn't allowed please forgive me. I've been looking for a few ume seedlings/rooted cuttings for a few years with little success. Does anyone know where I can find a few for purchase in the Continental US? Thanks in advance for any information or assistance. 👍

Check evergreen gardenworks. Brent grows ungrafted varieties from cuttings and is the only supplier I know of in the US to do so with so many kinds.

Great, thank you. Does he have a website? Or how can I get a hold of him?

I have a couple that are 2-4 years old, and will be rooting more. I know a few others here do too. Unfortunately EGW discontinued them for the time.

Mine are getting very close to blooming, but I have to wait for the freeze this weekend to be over for pictures

Awesome, thank you. Would you be willing to sell me one of yours?

Dylan at Cedar Rose Nursery is digging up beautiful contorted umes right now. Really great trunks.

I've never heard of them, but wow their prices are very good. Unfortunately all on the website is out of stock. I really want one of the crabapple, I'll have to reach out.

Awesome, thank you. Would you be willing to sell me one of yours?
Absolutely, if you don't get one from the above retailer I'll send pictures next week after the snow

Brent is solid
Has @Pitoon started selling yet?

Peggy Clarke seems to be common variety in the USA and if you google search ‘peggy clark une usa’ several vendors show up — i don’t know what size material is available or whether peggy clarke is sustainable on it’s own roots. I would bet that in most cases it they are NOT grafted onto Prunus mume but instead on some other Prunus stock

If all else fails, send me an email

Awesome, thank you. I just checked and there are several online. I don't know much about that variety, but it's beautiful. I'm a novice when it comes to ume (which is why I'd like a smaller one), but honestly I just want to see what I'm getting and something that's good for bonsai of course. I don't really like buying from websites with just general information. 🤷

Perhaps the best assortment of prebonsai ume varieties can be found at evergreengardenworks.com order by March 1st each year. Unfortunately these are mail order via Brent, a bonsai specialist grower for the hobby. The upside is you can communicate with him prior to purchase and he will give you the straight skinny.

That’s where we get all of ours.

Cheers
