I joined the site with a different user name than today. Changed it because it was a username I use too much. It was the first 3 letters of my first name and the last 3 of my last name plus Steve Yzerman's jersey number. After I killed a few trees I figured I should change my name, and own it. :) What's the origin/significance of yours?

How do i start without some long sad pathetic story? This year started with a lockdown while i was visiting my wife in a different town, so i lost most of my trees because i was supposed to be gone for a weekend which turned into 6 weeks, thin in the middle of the year there was yet another lockdown when i was caught between destinations during which the ultimate survivors died as well.
So for greater part of the year i kept my distance, even removed my profile pic, and changed my basic name to something more basic, i'll change to a more fun one with a story later on.

My initials (2 because I'm a 2nd). But I enjoy that it sounds like R2D2.

Maybe I should change my profile photo to an Android - but I love that picture, no filters, and not actually in black and white, just a lucky shot.

There are rumors it's from a trip to Utrecht, Netherlands, after a visit to a "smart shop" (not a "cafe") in my early 20's - but that's neither here nor there.

Most people are familiar with the word penumbra, but I was surprised that a small number of people at the Winter Silhouette show asked what it means and a couple were not sure how to pronounce it. I probably use it too much but that is OK with me. My new business in Penumbra Pottery, my Amazon store (on hold now) was Penumbra Books etc. The word just came to me one day over 20 years ago and it stuck. While the word is used most often to describe the merging area of light and dark on the moon ( I am crazy for lunar eclipses) to me it says I exist where the light meets the dark. This was probably prompted by a long time study of Daoism. From another point, I exist in the shadow land.
Interesting thread by the way.

4th generation New Mexican white boy. My last name is Hart, but I grew up in high percentage Hispanic and Mexican American schools. Martinez is an incredibly common name here so I blended the two and created my alter ego. When I start drinking my speech comes out all slang filled Spanglish. Can’t help it at this point.

I have lived in Louisiana so long that I became a naturalized coonass.
Contrary to what my subordinates may claim, I don’t ride cajuns. Rather it is anything on two wheels with one exception. I never do well with those blessed hoverboards.

I had only encountered it in the legal context. Given your explanation, your profile picture of a sunrise/sunset makes sense.
