What is this in the soil?

Hi I noticed this new green sprout superficially covered by the top soil layer when I was watering my mini sekka hinoki today (got it 1 week ago). What can it be and should I remove it to prevent it from competing for water and nutrients with my hinoki?

Very difficult if not impossible to identify from these cotyledons as so many plants start the same way,

Yes, carefully remove it, do your best to take the whole root with it, remain vigilant of any others that may pop up
