I just wanted to acknowledge and thank all of those that have patiently helped and guided the new people, even if their questions were stupid, or their material was crap. There is a huge pool of knowledge here, and sharing that with those less experienced in context of their own questions/trees is an invaluable resource. So much more so than Googling "why is my tree dying". Last year I felt I was protecting my few little trees by keeping them safe indoors. Then I saw everyone screaming "get them outside" to everyone else doing the same. I got it, and realized the great benefit of getting them outside. I'm anxious for the nighttime temps to get consistently 50 degrees, so I can get them out!! I have also acquired some material from people here, that I have never been disappointed with. So much better than buying from an anonymous eBay seller. I also feel I have made a few friends here, and who doesn't need friends? I guess this seems pretty sappy. But there has been so much arguing on some of the threads lately, I just wanted to remind people what a great resource it can be, and that people appreciate the thoughtful advice and instruction.

not sappy, its nice.
the world could use a little more nice.

Have to agree! I value the nonjudgemental advice I have received on this site as well. I have been on other sites where that has not been the case. Starts from the top I believe!

At the risk of being ignored...how do you find the people? :):)

"Ignore" button is just a tool like using the "bold" key or "underline" key but it seems you have a pretty big following of friends and fellow bonsai people here are they not valuable as well?

It seems the "people" find me. When I don't agree, and it escalates, due to stubbornness or ignorance of the subject matter, I take the high road and use the ignore feature to keep from reading ignorant bullshit over and over.

Works for me.

For me, this site has been a life line. I could go on and get real sappy but the bottom line is the folks that talk to me accept me for who I am with all my flaws. There have been times when the folks here were my only friends. I can come here and talk trees and forget some of the more painful things that have happened.

I have found the wealth of information shared here to be so incredibly helpful in guiding me through my early steps in bonsai. As much as I appreciate all of the responses to my questions and requests for input, it is the hours spent reading posts that the writers will never know how helpful they have been to me, that really make this site invaluable. People can learn so much here without even making their presence known. I appreciate the honest opinions, the willingness to share knowledge, and the often snarky and hysterical responses that bring out the humanity from the screen interactions. Thank you all for whatever you add to this site.

Illinois been just piling up since you got here Carol83!

No Matter what I'm ever feeling...
Proud, sad, mad, happy, discouraged...

There is always someone here listening!

Besides the socializing, loling, and venting.......

I love learning the Global Bonsai Stuff.

Even the dead Newb trees have a different lesson to teach everytime.

Creativity.....
We got a lot of that going on...
By the pallet-full!

Love it!

At the risk of being ignored...how do you find the people? :):)

Sorce, Lancemac, Smoke, Vance Wood, Frary, justwingit, Nellie,Cadillac, michaelS and many of the others are just too much to ignore, so entertaining, so helpful, so Bonsai knowlegable,...
I don't use the ignore button, even in the case of Sawgrass and his usually Caustic postings he has a lot to offer...
I think of Sawgrass as a personality much like Catelyn Jenner, strange and bizarre but fascinating, captivating and must see...
This is a great Website Forum and I view it daily...
I hope no-one has me on ignore....????

The site has been resourceful and fun. Made a few trades. Acquainted with and even met some great members. Have a wealth of info, but you might have to be intimate with the forum to find stuff as the titles are not always accurate and the discussion gets derailed. I mean there are pearls even in threads I wouldn't normally read, but a excellent post might be found in it. Love seeing the progression of trees. Practice restraint on hitting reply. LOL. I've tried to not ignore anyone and just try to stay out of the arguments. Try to spend my energy on my stuff and trees.

Conversation, Al, Al, and yet more Al, Sorce, Sorce, and yet more Sorce.

I don't travel, can't really get to clubs or even shows really. Aside from the internet, this is my main source of knowledge and of conversation regarding Bonsai.

Its 1 thing to read about something from a book or webpage but its another to discuss it. There are many opinions about every aspect of bonsai and as long as you are someone who can understand both sides (don't knock it, plenty of people on here can't put pride aside and not take things too seriously), then you are able to weigh up what you should do.

If I had an idea and every person on here said "yeah that's great, go for it" without any further comment or disagreement, it'd feel wrong...

Need to have disagreements. Its art after all, appreciating all sides of it, and understanding there are more than 1 way to skin a cat, is very important.

I couldn't begin to say thank you for what this site provides me, but my yearly birthday topic post, was close enough to what I could say :).
