A snow laden pine finally snapped over this afternoon and took out a larger oak that was partially rotted through. Lost my red pine... no branches on it. All my chojubais lost branches but should make it. My Goji berry took a beating, as did some large maples, my large azalea, Mavis the yew, and others. I'd say the silver lining is that I now have lots of free space on my benches for new trees, but alas, my bench space is down by 40% at the moment. I guess I'll be re-doing my benches and irrigation system shortly...:(.

Ah man... Sorry to hear this...

That chojubai and the red pine... honestly so tragic. Besides those, the bench, and the accent pot- is that the extent of the damage? Also, out of curiosity, was there a thread on the red pine?

Will do. These are gonna get a nice staining to once they dry out. My garden will never look as nice as that of @MACH5 , but I can at least take the edge off of that nasty "pressure treated green" that these boards tend to sport!

4 benches and a raised stand were damaged to the point where they need to be completely replaced minus the posts. I lost the Japanese Red, Pine...https://bonsainut.com/threads/my-japanese-red-pine.4552/, along with the accent planting. I lost the apex to many trees, including the chojubai, my gogi berry...https://bonsainut.com/threads/my-gogi-berry-semi-cascade.26014/, several JBP shohin projexts, and this maple...https://bonsainut.com/threads/another-japanese-maple-what-to-do.4857/. My juniper here...https://bonsainut.com/threads/a-grafted-juniper.17691/, was partially uprooted and lost the cascading branch. The pot that this yew was planted in, a very nice signed Yamaaki 2nd generation pot, is in 6 pieces now...

Shame to lose the pot. Seems wisdom of keeping trees from under tree fall range was not learned:rolleyes:.

I've seen some stupid posts on this site before. And that one is right towards the top of the list.
Shit happens.
You can't take into account things that are out of your control.
It's like the member that could only take 1 tree when he escaped the fires in California.
Or me when voles ate my trees.
Maybe shit will happen to you for something you couldn't predict happening and some insensitive bastard can point it out for you in the future.

You're an ass... my house and garden are surrounded by trees... you know... woods. Should I cut them all down? The tree that fell was fully 50 feet away, but was uphill which allowed it to fall further and onto my benches. You truly are a little prick.

He's an internet warrior intent on being hurtful... I guess he talks smack from 2000 miles away to improve his self esteem? Whatever, he knows how I feel about him.

Nature sucks, reminds me of Spring here in 2015, and many other maladies people report here. On bright note although it looks like a total disaster at first your lose compared to your survival rate was pretty damn good. Yes I do know how much it hurts from experience but as my Sister would say "Time to put your big boy pants on"... I did and you are - for that you should be commended.
Hang in there my friend, and enjoy your new results, improvements, and development - it will be ok.
