Up for auction is a One-year-old cutting grown new variety of Vitex agnus-castus that I have identified and will be releasing. I'm calling it, Vitex agnus-castus 'corteza áspera' (rough bark in Spanish) as a tip of the hat to how well it performs in the Southwest. (It's also called Chaste Tree and Monk's pepper and many other things) It's in a 5" pot and was repotted in spring so I suggest letting it grow for the year.

My plan was to send this to Michael Dirr who is working on developing new cultivars. He can wait till the new cuttings are ready.

:) I was not going to sell any of these until next year and this is the only one with the exception of the mother remotely ready for sale.

Here is text copied from a Michael Ryan Bell post:
Many of you know Roy Minarai. He's not only one of the most talented potters in the game, but one of the kindest and most generous guys in the business. A couple of months ago, his daughter was horribly injured in a collision with a 1-ton truck. Her progress has been miraculous, but medical bills are totaling in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and insurance doesn't cover quite a bit of it.

Go to the 99 cent page and bid on some stuff and/or donate on this GoFundMe

The tree I am putting up is nothing special as a bonsai yet but it is one of two in existence at this point. Picture 1 shows the tree for auction. 2 shows the bark on the mother tree that's 1/10" in depth on a > 2" trunk. 3 shows the normal bark for a similar size of the Vitex A. sp. 4 shows leaf reduction that I regularly achieve. 5 shows bark already developing on the auction tree. 6 &7 are additional photos of the auction tree.
