Vid on triming Junipers w/ scissors

One thing I noticed, you left it kind of leggy. I was under the assumption from what I've read and from others that you want to chase the foliage back to the connecting branch. The first thing you did was snip off the closest bit foliage to the secondary branch. Please elaborate on why. Good video by the way.

No, you need to separate the foliage from the main branch. Think of a juniper more like a deciduous tree... it has branches and foliage on the ends. So, each pad should look as I have done, a branch coming off of the main branch, with a tuff of foliage at the end. Theses pads of foliage are wired and arranged either together to form a bigger single pad, or placed separately on their own to make up more of the silhouette of the tree.

By, trimming the branch out as I have done, it allows form more light and air to reach the foliage, and the foliage will turn to adult foliage faster.
