Is this normal? We planted this a week ago...I checked the leaves...they don't seem dried out in the least. Just a pretty almost fall looking color. But...it's JULY.

REALLY! How very interesting...never assumed it would show up that color. That it's a weeping variety...and we planted two weeping cherries when my second son was born...the first by us...the second by a nursery. Both died...I was hesitant to say the least on having a weeping cherry variety in the yard. So the color of leave made me pause...again...it was not dried out which puzzled me...and such a pretty color. So I hoped it meant...something positive. Which you have enlightened me as to in fact that indeed... Is new growth...very positive indeed.

(Years back...we planted the tree next to a ravine...to much shade I am thinking...who knows. We were told we didn't water enough...then to much. It may have been a number of things...oh...and then it was our soil the nursery said. The guarantee they gave us was void)

Many trees have far different color foliage when they leaf out, fact is "before" you never paid as much attention as you do "now" :D It is a good entry for your notes. As the years progress and things look "odd" they most often are forgotten. Notes make it all clear and gives you good memories. I forget a lot of things and reference notes therefore keeping my "sanity" :P Especially as your collection grows and becomes more and more diversified. ;)
