Very nice tree, do you have any historic photos of it?

I would like to see this tree replanted in a semi-formal rectangle, perhaps a bit lower such that the jin on the left is at soil level.

That is definitely a thought as this pot is now too small for the tree. I do have and will dig….
 
I've found a few not quite as early as I'd like they were on 35mm and I hope I transfered all to digital.....
From Left to Right early potting in purple background. The presentation for the Consul General of Detroit and another Consul General a few years later. Bench shots in different seasons. Detroit Institute of Art: Arts and Flowers show 80's

thanks for sharing, Vance. it looks like previously you had this tree planted more at the level I had in mind. Here’s to the next 40 years!
