Tree #3 from Brent at Evergreen Gardenworks and my favorite of the three. Really nice movement all the way up, decent size trunk and all. I'm torn on what I want to do with this guy. Obviously need to thicken the trunk significantly, but could use styling tips.

Any thoughts? :)

Honestly, I completely forgot I even made a thread for this one, but he’s easily the least fussy and easiest tree I own.
I repotted this one on a wood board in March 2022 into a Anderson flat style pot.

I’ve just been letting this guy grow and started my first air layer on him the other day and figured I should update this thread.

The air layer was pretty tight squeeze, so hopefully I gave it enough room for roots. Hoping to get a shohin out of this one.

Long term goal for the rest of the tree is continue to grow out. Probably needs a repot next year as this thing pretty damn vigorous. I’ll probably repot and let it grow another two years and then trunk chopped to start building an interesting structure.

It's been awhile. Got around to doing a repot on this guy. It's been 3 years since my first repot and planting on a board. I'm fairly happy with the results from a root perspective. Just playing the slow game of container growing and trunk thickening. Did a pretty severe root pruning and trunk chop. He's been growing very well, but definitely very root bound and needing a repot. I felt pretty confident given my experience with this plant and overall vigor. Nebari is partially hidden below soil surface to hopefully encourage root growth in sections that have gaps. Hard to tell, but overall base is a little over 2". I'll probably need to end up doing some root grafts next repot, but didn't have any cuttings to use. Thankfully I'm starting a few from what I cut off to use in the future. Probably give it another 3 years and we'll revisit. Hoping to get it in the ground once we move.
