I picked up a little Stone Pine Christmas tree at our local grocery yesterday. They don't put a sale price on anything unless the ladies have actually killed it first. Anyway, I removed the pot cover this morning and found this on the bottom:

These creepy little whatevers are in groups in several places on the bottom of the pot. What are they and what is my course of action?
Thanks!

NM, I figured it out. These are either bugus disgustus or creepus undesiribilis. Either way, my course of action was to get rid of them ASAP. I unpotted my little stone pine and put the nasty pot outside in the snow. Then I removed about 2/3 of the potting mix, didn't see any creeps in the soil or on the roots, just one little centipede. I potted in Boon's mix, put a few granules of systemic on top, and watered. I hope the little pine does well. It's my first re-pot, so hey!

What is it a sock? Looks like a sock!🤣

Wow! I was totally seeing the black as a nursery pot with a stump in it on the white ground with a dirty jellylike sock!

Lol I can totally see that! No, the black is one of the drainage holes on the bottom of the pot.

That's the kinda stuff the chickens like!

Looks like some type of “slime mold” at first glance, but I would need to have it in my hand to be sure.

Slime molds are ubiquitous and generally harmless

Desert dweller here, no experience with slime molds. The little blobs were quite regular, all on the plastic pot, and firm but not hard to touch. I hope to never see it again lol.

Some type of fungus I would say.
