I have a few trees that sprouted from their roots in my backyard from when the builder cleared the area. Some I can ID easily, quite a few cedar elms. This one I can't figure out what it is, I tried two different plant ID by picture apps and they can't pinpoint what tree it is. I did an ID by leaf type on the Texas A&M website and it came up as Texas Persimmon. Anyone have first hand experience with this tree and can ID based on new growth? Since it is low to the ground there is no trunk to see.
We are supposed to have a few days of mid 30's high 20's degree weather next week so I plan on collecting it after this has past... I can provide some protection or move it into the grow tent with the ficus trees until spring is here. If it is a persimmon, can it be completely bare-rooted? It is growing on hard clay, and I plan on moving into all inorganic substrate if possible.
It's a little tree with plenty of low growing branches
