Yep... who knew Mugo would be hard to find in SE MI. None of the big box stores near me had them and the only place I found them was at a landscape nursery... 2 gal plants for around $80 and they had no redeeming qualities bonsai-wise so I passed.

I might have, but I was in AL for my son's graduation at that time and wasn't spending much time on line, I'm sure. Anyway, both those stores are a bit of a haul from me, and I'm only in the area when I'm going to or from the airport. Given the time of year, I doubt it's worth the drive now. I did check several Lowes last month and struck out.
