After 32 days and stitching together 126 separate photos, we are left with this breathtaking portrait of The President.

Man that's funny! I was just looking at that tree in National Geogrphic Dec. 2012 a couple of minutes ago! One of my wife's clients gave it to her to give to me. Too funny! It still has the poster. Awesome tree!

When one walks thru one of the large forests, one can only feel humbled at the shear magnificense of it all.

My son got married on 07/07/07. I gave him my camera and sent him to Yosemite for his Honeymoon. These are just a few of the more than 200 photos he came back with.

oooh yeah point88, that is badass

This seems to say to me, contrary to alot of redwood bonsai that has need of redwoods have upwards-facing main branches, and, when made into a formal upright redwood, and the family's

Saw it in person about one month ago. It is truly an amazing tree.

Something I noticed on the photo of the entire tree when it was posted on Facebook. Why is is the man at the top of the tree so much larger than the guy at the base of the tree?

Good point, composited wrong?

Good eye Nathan. I had the same question and believe Ben got it. If you watch the video part where they were stitching the pics like a jigsaw puzzle...that is the last piece they placed.

My thought was...when looking at something from a distance...it is smaller. The guy at the base of the tree closer to the trunk. Now...allow for the large tree's branches to outstretch...that man up top would be closer due to the canopy being further from the trunk. So he would appear larger.

The goal and what Nat Geo did was to eliminate or reduce that distortion. They took multiple pictures from various elevation of the tree and stitched 126 photos to attain that...BUT seem not enough.

I bought that issue of National Geographic just because of that photo. And as impressive as the photo is, it still can't compare to being there and actually looking up at those trees (which I have been fortunate to have done once). They are just so massive that you almost can't believe it.

Well...in all honestly...I would imagine it would be extremely difficult getting it 100% right. But trying to get the depth correct one would make the top person larger...to make the canopy seem appropriate size. That is a lot of photos stitched together...still an amazing sight!
