So when I was in the Army, one of my buddies used to religiously do 600 sit-ups per day. Fast forward 40 years, and my core is no longer in the shape that I wish it was.

So yesterday I started the Bonsai Nut sit-up challenge. Current participants: me. Yesterday I did 10 sit-ups. Today I did 20. Tomorrow I will do 30. I will increase 10 reps per day for 100 days... until the final day I will knock out 1000 :)

Who's with me?

I’ll join, just did 20 so I’m all caught up for today😅

Today is 30 so I'll do 15 in the morning and 15 at lunch, LOL

I used to have to do 100 in 3 minutes or less... how time has flown!
Well gee I guess I’ll do 30 later this evening then 😅. I dunno how I’ll manage further on as once we get above 100 I’ll really need to keep an eye on my ck levels which run high even when I am doing nothin!

I do 60-80 every other day. But my core is so weak that it hurts my lower back if I exceed 50 in one go. If anyone knows how to prevent that, I'll join this challenge.
My goal is to 'move' a combined 10.000kg a day.

Right now I'm hitting a little more than half that.

Wait! Change of plans!

My sister and I decided we are going to do it a little differently. We are going to take weekends off. That way your abs can rest, and also if you miss a day you have two days you can use as make-ups.

So we are doing it 5 days per week for 20 weeks. We are starting up again next Tuesday... which will be 70 day. Next week will be 70, 80, 90, and 100 on Friday. Then two days off and we'll start the next week on Monday. The math will be easier increasing 50 sit-ups per week :)

I started something similar, inspired by one punch man who does 100push up, 100 squat, 100 situp and 10km run everyday.
im slowly building up though, now 11 days in I’m at 40 push up 40situp and 50 squat. Only went running 1 time so far.. I know I’m injuryprone when running so 10km every day is very likely not going to be part of the program ever.
in the mean time I’m also going for 100 days and just see from there. I did manage to exercise every day so far.

Have you tried strengthening your back?
this is a pretty easy exercise if done right, used it after an injury and gradually added weights held against my chest (think the discs minus the bar with my arms crossed over them like a corpse) for more resistance.

There are probably better videos for this one but was in a rush to find one showing it before heading out.

I’ve had to take a couple days pause, I was down at the gym a few days ago (right before they got locked down again) and apparently overdid it a bit. Of course at the time I was nice and warm and feeling fine, made the error in not reducing my usual routine despite a gym break because honestly I wasn’t feeling any problems and cruised through it all. However, every muscle in my body is now stiff as a board and I make some fantastic noises when I try to move😂. I dropped my keys yesterday, now that was a HUGE challenge!
I plan to go for a run later to loosen up if I can manage it, I could not even jog yesterday, whoops.

I went mountain biking on Wed, ran on Thurs, and went mountain biking again on Friday. Plus the sit-ups :) I was wiped out last night. However the sit-ups are definitely coming easier!

Tomorrow is 150 day! Yee ha!

I bought some nice clay poker chips. The whites are 10 sit-ups, greens are 20, reds are 50, and blacks are 100. Every day I count out the chips for the day into a cup in front of my keyboard, and over the course of the day as I do sit-ups I take them out. End of day = empty cup! Great way to not have to keep count.
