Anyone have any info. about this variety for bonsai? I did check Brent's Evergreen Catalogue.

This variety is a Japanese variety, a variant of black pine.
Its needles are thick and short, and do not need short-leaf treatment, which is a natural short-needle black pine. Google with copy and past for 寸梢松, you will see a lof of Sunsho pine, menaing inch needle pine, indiciating the var and the shape of this pine.

ok so sunsho is a relatively new verity of dwarf jbp. Had been around for about 50-70 years and is extremely rare even in Japan. It’s known for its thick hair / needles that often resemble thick blades of grass. Attached is 2 pictures I found online of some nice shohin trees one of these trees sold to a collector in Japan for over 10k. Chances of seeing one aside from a graft or just material in the USA is probably not going to happen anyway hope this helps
