Stoned...

So.. whilst cleaning/arranging some items downstairs in my storefront.. I came across a box I hadn't seen in over 6 years. A mini-steamer trunk, small shoe-box-sized. A multi-purposed, chemically felonious storage box, referred to as a "kit" sometimes by junkies.

Crawling fingers of God, coarse up my spinal cord and begin warmly massaging my brainstem as I open the box, and remove an old Brass Chinese Can.. often called a "Jar" in certain circles.. or "dens".

Inside there is ash.. black, powdery, rock-hard ash...

I wonder what would happen to it at 2300F?

🤨🙄😥

Do we want to know what kind of ash?

This clay is VERY satisfying, visually, and tactilely.

Very strong(not as strong as 547, though) and smooth, holding GREAT structure while still fairly moist (This was noted MOST strongly in the Patrick Horsley body, also).. near perfect grog content for structures, I'd bet.. and will try.

Have to throw more, differing pieces to test the parameters.. I will document.

The color... I think it's interesting that the color of this clay, green, affected my texture patterns/passes. towards the overall IDEA... even though.. It will fire deep, rich red. The pictures I've seen of it, resemble 547 in color. (varying, of course on firing procedure)

We are about 2/3 done with moist stuff on this piece. This one is getting bisque-fired... it'd be a shame, in my eyes, NOT to stain this one.88D2AD4D-A9B1-410D-AB2C-1368D2FC076E.jpegEDE79BF2-D67B-4F80-9345-7D0DB00CB18B.jpeg9F48B61C-FB91-4F26-8DCE-0D7C91DABC00.jpeg

It looks like the Moon Cheese from Wallace and Gromit.

Damn it all! There I go, again....

Blurring the "clay/food" line!

Finally getting around to the previously SLIGHTLY intimidating task of Structure Building with the 547. Working towards THAT learning curve.

It's..... a juggling act to keep all the pieces the correct moisture will assembling and also waiting on other pieces to dry MORE.. 😂😂

It's.. Pretty Damn difficult, honestly.. but I enjoy "challenging"

I'll bet there's a method of operation to alleviate this.. I intend to find it. (Also.. no real time for moist carving.. I've been micro texturing. 🤓)

That is very creative my friend.
Thank you!

Now that I know more ABOUT that clay.. I feel should do some.. intentional structures..

That one was free-form, just rolled out slabs and "went".. It's "non-marriage" of certain architectural ideas SOMEWHAT irk me.. I don't feel it will ever be "right".. but I learned a TON.

I shall plan the structure out FIRST next time.😂
