quick walk on my property today checking things out :-) I'm still relatively new to this so could use all the advice that you could give me.

mainly what to do and when to do it would be great. I've read a little about the timing of when to cut, etc.. I live in Georgia... but tell me your ideas.

A few of these did have ants on them which I'm pretty sure is a bad sign lol

also including a few bonsai I already have or have potted.

Stand by :-) have to upload them to Flickr then stick them here I guess

Hmmm.. trying to figure out pic posting..
not working?

I don't see a single cypress leaf on the ground so it doesn't appear to be one. Do you have any photos of the tree in leaf?

a bigger size of my current ones (some gifts to my employees at the dojo)

as to the questions on the first on if a cypress or not... ummm? I think so? :o)

2,3 and ify on 4, but the rest I don't see anything worth collecting. I would just leave them were they are. Not trying to be harsh but they don't have good traits.

I agree with Giga, a lot of them don't seem very worthy collecting (straight, no taper, to tall, weird trunk angle etc...)

So may be an idea - if they are all yours and you could do whatever you want with them - would be to air layer some parts of them (like closer to the start of some branches or to the tops of the tree, this kind of idea) in order to try to get a better starting point than just a collection.

thanks for the reply!

What do you see or not see that made you pick those? That way I can know what to/not look for...

thx!
