I’m getting a good flowering on my crab this year! It is liking this new PNW climate. Unfortunately, when I moved here the gardener at my temporary rental knocked a couple of branches off last fall. The stubs are sending out shoots though and should be replaced in a season or two.

A little farther along...I have to run out of town for a few days, so I hope I don’t miss the full flowering. Now I’m just waiting for the bees.

Gotta love when it finally blooms, here ours are all just about to break bud but I suspect last nights snow will slow them again. Late in these parts, about 3 weeks behind :(

I have a brand new flowering crab, and a new pyracantha, both having arrived within the last ten days. Since they came from California, and it's still hitting the 30's here, I've repotted them and kept them inside under lights. The crab is showing nice clusters that will probably be open when I get home from work, and the pyracantha is pushing new buds that I assume will be for flowers. Such an exciting time of year!

At last. Massive bloom. Letting it grow mad this year so I can do some long overdue reshaping next year.

Very nice, is that a Snowdrift Variety?

Grimmy
Ah yeah, sure, why not?

I forgot the variety ages ago. Got it from Miniature Plant Kingdom in Sebastopol and it may or may not have had a variety on the tag. My record keeping on my collection sort of sucks. At one time I kept a really good diary of varieties, when I repotted, when things got styled. But that fell to the wayside a lot time back. I really need to get better about that. Especially now that I have a few trees that have been on my bench for 20-30 years.

Ah yeah, sure, why not?

Just curious as there are so many but the Snowdrift growing proper has a very prominent flower stage, much heavier then a lot of others on its own.
