If you use his link as he posted it, you have to go input 'wisteria' in the search box you have to bring up. So here's a more direct listing of 'wisteria' as topic from that sight. It applies to the Asian species (which seems to be what most of you have) but not to mine. The variety is supposed to be easy blooming every year. If blooming is important to you and you just can't get yours to do it, you may want to change species and try getting a hold of 'Amethyst Falls' or another of the American cultivars. There's something to be said though for accepting the challenge of the Asian species (Chinese or Japanese) and the satisfaction if you can get it right, year after year. So, it's a choice. I hope it works though because I still want a Chinese wisteria too.

Specifically to encourage a non-blooming wistera, this article from that site may be useful: https://crataegus.com/2012/01/06/why-wont-my-wisteria-bloom/

Thanks I found it on search. Very good articles.

The second link: https://crataegus.com/2012/01/06/why-wont-my-wisteria-bloom/ is the best explanation I've read. Michael's use of the word "drone" made me laugh a bit as well. Good stuff for all to read. Thanks!

Amythest falls...blooms more than once. First flush is always the foolest.

Perks to both species...Bill V I know used to do a lot of air layers on Amethyst Falls.

Yes, I am thinking that I still want a Chinese wisteria to compare them over time and see which I like more - assuming I could get the Chinese wisteria to bloom. So it's all good information!

Here's mine. Anyone know what this creapy black and white thing is in the second pic? Thought it was a beetle but stuck on like a cacoon.IMG_20180425_092045481.jpgIMG_20180422_103121576.jpg

Flipped it off into the pond right after the pic. Thanks
It was about the size of a ladybug.

Ready for a nicer pot.... Chinese Wisteria with shorter racemes and has greater perfume than the Japanese variety, currently throwing out a few more blooms after it's main show of colour in May. I have another Japanese one in training that I did some carving on earlier in the year.

Sadly and surprisingly mine didn’t wake up this spring. I didn’t think they could be killed. It was just getting some good character. Oh well.
