I’m feeling inspired, I want to see what you guys have found looking under the hood of a regular nursery , club auction/ online auction, bonsai nursery , yamadori or urbandori. Show me your best finds. It can be a singular tree or a overgrown seedlng tray you turned into a forest.
Readyyyyy go!

I am always looking around for bargains. Authum garden center sales is my best time off the year. This years best find was amazing:

The most interesting tree I’ve found is this Fagus grandifolia with twin trunks twisted together like one of those kitschy braided “bonsai” you tend to see at the hardware store. It’s still bizarre to me that it happened naturally.

And now that the tree has fully recovered, I need to start developing some ramification:

Here's one. I'm thinking I'll train to formal upright, can't really see a style yet...
If you want a formal upright, you’ll need to buy a different tree. That one will never become a formal upright unless you chop everything off the top and regrow it straight. Work with what you have and let the tree tell you what design it wants to be.

That’s the joke.

Love this tree figure do you have a dedicated thread on it?
