Hey all, i'm slowly getting my shohin collection together. I got this shohin elm from Don Blackmond about a month ago.
Tree is 7 inches from the soil & has nice mature branches & small leaves.

I let the tree grow wild for a bit & gave it a haircut today. I nearly went blind trying to concentrate cutting everything back to 1 or 2 leaves. This little guy is definitely going to keep me busy!

Pics aren't the greatest, it was totally overcast & rainy.

I like it!

Nice taper and good branch structure. It will be killer when you get it looking more like an elm with a more rounded canopy:D

It is aa great little tree. It has a lot of maturity despite its size. The trunk has great taper and movement.

Another option would be to remove the uppermost portion and create a fuller oak-style tree.

Jeff

PS I see Al snuck in as I was doing the virt and posted a similar comment.

I'd like to comment, but I can't see the photos because they are at photobucket instead of here on our site.

Not dumping on you Duane, but more and more lately this is happening, it keeps some from seeing and possibly giving usefull advice or comments, as well as not being here down the road when the photo links change or are removed, so we will have threads with NO photos.

We have seen rather recently that sites can go down and probably away loosing the whole shebang, but that will probably not be the rule.

I can't see the photos because I typically check in here thru work:eek:, and our firewall blocks most if not all the "social sites" so I typically blow right by these threads, although interested I can't help.

I realize it is easier to put up a link rather than resize and upload, but in the long run it makes for site issues. I invite you all to upload you pix to Bnut so we can have whole threads to see down the road.

Thats my rant if you call it that.

I remember seeing that tree on Don's site. It was pricey. Hope you negotiated.

Don, Ryan thanks
Al & Barry, thanks for the suggestion & virt. I hear you loud & clear.
