Received this tree from Brent @ Evergreen on 8/19. Since then, it has lost all foliage, and is showing no signs of new growth.. I'm pretty worried considering it is still 80+ degrees here in NC. I also received a Trident on the same day which has been very healthy (plenty of new foliage mass). This tree has been in full sun 8am-3pm every day, and is watered twice a day. I just do not understand.. Should I be worried?

Shishio 10/4 I understand maples are deciduous, but losing all foliage during 80+ weather, with no signs of new growth?

Most trees need to be acclimated slowly to more or less light. I'm guessing yours got fried initially and the subsequent development is just the reaction. After this time of the year a deciduous tree won't push new leaves but will put energy into setting buds for next season. I think you should just let it be and heal it in for the winter. Hopefully you'll have a more rewarding spring

Yea, looks like sun burn. The grower probably uses shade clothes. Then it went from several days of dark to full sun and couldn't take it. My friend lost all his J.Maple leaves in early September of last year and it bounced back in November with the most brilliant colors I've seen. I'm wondering if you will have similar results or if yours happened too late for a new flush.

Also, I ordered a maple online in September and had similar browning of leaf margins after several hot days. Shortly after purchase, I slip potted it into organic soil and made the mistake of letting it get watered twice a day with my others in boon mix. That contributed to some browing but more on the interior of the leaves. It's now away from the group of sprinklers and maintains its scorched leaves.
Good luck to you
