Shimpaku Color Change? Normal?

I've noticed that my Shimpaku is losing its vibrant green color. See the attached photo.

Is this normal for this time of year (in Michigan?)

I don't think it's completly normal, but i don't have a clue it's only what i think. I hope he makes it.
 
Have you checked for mites and other critters? When was the last time you used a pesticide on it? Do you have other similar trees you can compare with?

Oh and enjoy your Michigander winter, I'm originally from Spring Lake over on the west coast and I don't miss the winters thank you.
 
No mites. Did the foliage shake test and nothing shows on the paper.
 
Looks like cones forming on the ends, with a little dying of old stuff.

They just happen to be the same color.
