The last of the deciduous trees are coming into leaf now.
Ginkgo is always one of the last to start.

Maples always look great as the new leaves open.

Flowers are fleeting but they do look great while they last

This azalea trunk looked great for a shohin sized tree
IMGP5141.JPG

Maybe the flowers are a bit big for shohin?

The season is progressing well with mild weather and plenty of rain so the trees are doing well.
First trim for some of the tridents today - before and after shots.

Note that I usually only trim well developed trees with good ramification early like this. Trees that need to be thicker and trees that need more ramification or branch thickness are allowed to grow until the shoots are 4-6 leaves long before trimming.

Some spring bonsai flowers today.

This red azalea is not quite as floriferous as the earlier flowering pink one but still not a bad display. A few flowers have been hit by petal blight - too much overhead water as the buds developed.

A tiny Cotoneaster cascade. About 4 inches from top to tail. Not fully out yet but thought I'd better take a shot in case the weather messes with the flowers.

Not actual bonsai this time - Rhodohypoxis bauerii as an accent plant

and another trident trimmed
