So, @HorseloverFat's haiku contest went over so well, that I thought it might be fun to have a place for that sort of thing.
For those who aren't inclined toward haiku, go ahead with the poetry, song lyrics, limericks, etc., etc.
Whatever.
Have fun.

Awesome Idea, Shady!

Awesome Idea, Shady!
Thanks! Never would have thought to do it except that we all had so much fun with yours.

Never was a poetry guy, and especially not haiku, but thanks to your cleverness and awesome pottery skills, I now have healthy appreciation for it, even if I fully intend to spend more time reading this thread than writing in it.

Inward, I shall dive

T’wards barren cliffs a-crumble

Orange is the Earth

So I started typing the words to poem... and I realized that it was basically a minstrel “movement”... I once did a presentation (for a creative writing class) about delivering short poetry in this style..

So I decided to record it’s delivery..

The lyrics are:

Wait for the flood to come..

Wait for the flood to come...

Rising.. Higher...

Wait for the flood to come..

I can’t be the only one..

(NO!) I can’t be the only one...

Who fears our pending judgement...

What the hell have we done..

What the hell have we done...

Earth’s headed straight toward the sun..

But we all waste time now, waiting for the flood to come.

(Gotta picture a fool with a lute singing it! 🤣)

I found this chorus scribbled on the back of a circus ticket.

Will you still.. love.. me..when my body falls apart?

When Time.. hits.. me...like a rampant motorcar?

I hope.. that.. even... long after I die.
I will be the love of your life.

Song Title: The Tower

I live in a tower,
Right beside the sea.

I live on a lot made of checkerboard,
Love’s just a game to me.

I live all alone here,
Frolic in my shame.

This darkness in clouding the
Air that I breath.

and it Fills me,
With such pain.

I dig graves here on this Island,
This floating cemetery.

I tend to the lots, while the sun is still hot.
But no one ever Sees.

_ You don’t wanna know what I’ve got up my sleeve

You don’t want hear it laid out, schematics tend to bore you all to..

Hell is where I’ve fashioned my retreat.

If Hell is void of ignorance, Hell is looking pretty good to me.

I once read this in “Thrasher Skateboarding Magazine”, as part of a haiku contest, actually.

Give me back my leg

Don’t hit me with the wet end

Your fate is dripping

Just found this article.
I shall not argue with it.

Little Johnny took a drink, but now will drink no more.

For what he thought was H2O was H2SO4.

Inscription on a Garden Gate

Pause, friend, and read before you enter here.

This vine-clad wall encloses holy ground.

Herein a mellowed garden dreams away the years,

Steeped in serene, sweet light and muted sound.

Herein tranquility and peace abide,

For God walks here at cool of evening-tide.

Pause, friend, and strip from out your heart

All vanity, all bitterness, all hate;

Quench, for this hour, the fever of your fears.

Then, treading softly, pass within this gate.

There, where ancient trees wait, hushed and dim,

May you find God, and walk awhile with him.

Song Title: “Whoo little kitty!”

Step
back mamajamma, cause you know that I’m bad.

I keep the
funky-fresh beat that keeps noddin’ your head.

Talk the
same shit twice and you’re bound to get hit.

Cause
no one reprimands “the crazy kid”.

I got
rhythm pourin’ outta every orifice.

But..
i’m not to blame for this.

Check the alleycat with the crooked smile.

He’s traversed the Desert Mile.

Yowlin’ on the rooftops in da back alley.

His
life’s synonymous with me

And
I been here so goddamn long

That Down looks up and Up looks wrong.

WHOOOO Little Kitty!
I see the sun dryin’ up the rainclouds and it’s a pity.

WHOO-OO-oo Little Kitty!
This cat likes the morbid downpour in the city.

So
take me to the place where I lost my vows.

And
resurrect my confidence somehow.

Stroll me through the moonlight to the bodhi tree.

And I’ll
break your stride, so casually.

Re-
member that night when I lost my head.

Oh
no! My schizotypal’s actin’ up again.

Down your knees and you’ll beg me please, done so hard, but’cha make it look E-
Syyyyyyyyy! Little Kitty!
I see the sun dryin’ up the rainclouds and it’s a pity.

WHOOO-OO-O-oo! Little Kitty!
This cat likes the morbid downpour in the city.

Written in 2011... with a hefty BAC, and an empty script. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I think I go the sound in my head, but I want to hear this performed.
I can totally see this as stripped down colab between Dan Auerbach and Jack White. I think they would hate each other personally the whole time they were on the project, but really love the results.
And you could feel all that in end song.
