I have been feeding well since I got it with miracid and naruko

Also occasional dissolved biogold pellets

Consider the tree in drydock for repairs! Gotta love a challenge tree.

Miracid and naruko sounds like a good combination. Would perhaps consider adding a 5:1 mix of humic acid/kelp to the Miracid. We use it to good effect.

Curious. Can images of the leaves be posted too?

Would scrub the branches with toothbrush and water. After drying saw off the dead stubs and chisel the remaining stubs smooth before sealing.

Finally work on the moss on the trunk to remove it all to reveal the nebari.

Happy Friday!

@Deep Sea Diver yes I forgot to mention I'm a big fan of biostimulants

My azaleas sometimes miss out on weekly applications as I tend to use calcium aswell and don't add this to azaleas but they still fairly regularly get the humic and kelp mix with their biogold juice!

Wow that baby smacks of definite Rhodyness!.

We have a couple smaller leaved ones been experimenting on for two years. Both respond well. One is likely really going to be great for bonsai. The other, the jury is undecided.

Mirai likely also has calcium.

Cheers
