Relatively New, moving to florida

I recently acquired a small juniper bonsai and am thinking about repotting it into a larger pot so that the trunk thickens. I am about to move to central florida, what would be a good soil mix to use? Since it is a high humidity, and lots of rain area, I am not worried about under watering but rather overwatering.
Thanks!!

Greetings wanderer!

You picked a fabulous time for navigating your way to us, here in our little clearing of the TinyForest. Do not fear the Woody Dwarves (Pa-Is), they are simply taking your measurements for the ceremonial garb...

Stay as long as you like, knowledge and experience are shared freely in the town square. Take what you need, give/share what you can.

I'm not really a conifer guy OR a tropical weather guy...The sounds of many a juniperus species in Florida SEEMS like it COULD be problematic (depending on the Juniper, or location in Florida). But, seeing as I am neither of the aforementioned "guys"...I'll smother your problem with so many gratuitous summons.

Hmmm... My browser is not letting me "select" my summons...

Just have to try it, "blind"..one at a time.. Here we go.

I'm farther south but when I repot I use the mix Wigert's charges $45 for 5 gallons for, or used bonsai soil depending on how far along the tree is. I have a large juniper in my yard and a procumbens in a pot both in full sun, both healthy. Most of my trees do amazing well when rainy season comes, I never worry about too much rain.

Under watering in the heat and wind is expected.
Much more an issue than humidity,
which won't help the uptake of moisture to the foliage from the roots that much.
Humidity - do keep Mancozeb on hand for fungal disease.
I would start with inorganic and add 25% organics, like pine bark.
Get into a local bonsai club when you find one.

Welcome to the forum! How much thicker do you think you want it to get before turning it into bonsai? And try uploading some photo’s for better tailored help.

Here’s a pic of it, I think i’d like about 1.5 inch before i begin to bonsai!

I'd recommend going to a local plant nursery and wandering around to look for something farther along in trunk size. In a small bonsai pot, it will take a long time to become impressive. Maybe get a few trees to learn with. If you are around Ocala, check out D&L nursery. There are many nurseries in the Orlando area.
