Hi,

I would like to acquire a small dremel with interchangable rotary bits for carving, cleaning, and other various tasks pertaining to bonsai. Can anyone recommend a decent dremel that will serve said purpose without breaking the bank?

Thanks,
Julian

That's a good price. Mine was 99.
You still got money left over for this!

Hey the price of that has come down some recently too.
Gotta get another one; mine gets "sticky" at times. Have already
tried all the maintenance and repair options so it is really about shot.
Thanks for the heads up Sorce didn't even know they stocked
this item. Last one had to come from jewelry supply company
and it was enough to cost me reproductive capabilities on one side.

I was gifted a Dremel last year. Sorry, not sure of the model. While it works fine, I would have to say that were I purchasing one, I'd go for the most powerful motor available. I think that they all are variable speed, so you can always slow things down, but if its carving you want to do , you need some horsepower.

I used to have a Dremel(tm), but it kept burning out. Then I found this larger, variable speed, tool at a Big Lots. It uses the same accessories d is twice as powerful and all for $15.

I have a default dremel (small with flexible neck),. but it also depends on the sizes of tree's you work. If i would have biger tree's i would get the same powertool thingie and bit as graham potter in his video's.

What Dremel bits are you guys using? I have a nice dremel that I picked up this year but havent tried it on my trees yet.

I found my dremel to be fine for very small areas of carving, but too small for anything else. I bit the bullet a couple of years ago and purchased a variable speed die grinder. It wasn't cheap but it is a great tool and gets the job done without burning out the tool.

I was also thinking of asking the same question. I have a cheap copy of dremel like rotary tool, but all the bits and pieces are compatible (I hope).
