Didn't have any plans of doing a jade ever...then I ran into this at a local greenhouse for 100 bucks and feel like I stole it. 2 huge Jades, one is almost 4 inches in diameter. Pretty nice ratification to boot. 2ft tall and about 2ft wide, in a 12 inch pot.

Oh wow, actual Jade, not a portulacaria. Have fun with it, it’s a chonker.

Here's the other one after repotting them.20231128_223855.jpg

Careful looks top heavy.on that base.
I've had to place rocks in the bottom of my cuttings pots, thinking I might repot to a wide wooden tray once roots form.

It is well balanced surprisingly in that pot, plus that one had good roots and a bit of a nebari.

I've never had a jade and don't plan too but that one, I would def have to take a second look

Are you planning to put it outside at all? The one of a similar size I got from my in-laws had been indoors its whole life and had foliage a lot like that, I put it outside this whole growing season and it transformed and exploded with growth. Totally different leaves. Round, almost disc like with bright red around the edge and much more compact growth. I am interested to see how it re-acclimates now that it is in for the winter but maybe something you might consider. Pics for reference:

It's been in a greenhouse for over 10 years prior to me buying it. I'm in the process of building a 16'x24' greenhouse, it will most likely be housed in there.
Yup if your lucky enough to have mild winters they can get huge if planted outsideView attachment 519296
It got down to 18°F last night, zone 6b here

I hate Jade but I would have bought them too for that price, to make it into a houseplant. I cant never find deals like that at nurseries here....Sighhh....

I find tons of nice material at the nurseries here, and the prices aren't bad... bought 5 bald cypress with 6 inch trunks for 100 bucks each this fall, and tons of other stuff. The greenhouse I bought the jades from was an hour drive though and they do more houseplants, succulents, etc. Till spring anyways.
