Very raw, needs a little work.
some of the straight edges of wood will be smoothed out with carving and will aim to give appearance of more trunk movement.some hollowing out to do20191023_183252.jpg

Mighty fine! I’m looking forward to what happens with your carving. It’s certainly a healthy tree.

Nice little leaves nice big basal trunk but weird like giant root was cut off;).

little bit of work on the Oak, think that will be it now, at leaf drop will get lots of twists n gnarly bends in the branches..

Is that rizla packet there for scale or what? ;)

I’ve thought about carving down to soil level, to create hollows akin to those on your inspiration tree, but thought that the deadwood will rot too quickly because it extends in to the soil, is that not a problem then?

Have you ever been to Blenheim Palace by the way? The Oaks in the estate grounds are crazy. Got to be at least 20 (at a very conservative guess) that are over 800 and all are obviously so.

Not my pictures but here are a couple for a bit of a flavour for youB3C08948-8EC2-4611-B71F-5F9C2403DCB2.jpeg885A4932-BAC7-42E8-9448-A1AD7ABDD9A7.jpeg

i dont see it as a problem on this material, the wood is extremely dense and hard, it will take a long time to break down completely, many years. even if the wood disintegrated and the wood collapsed, i would just change the angle in the pot. lean the tree one way or the other, create a raft even.
nice oak images:cool:

I forgot about this tree.. I think I remember seeing it on Kaizen? We spoke about it at one point.
Any updates, or sold?
