Hi all, latest purchase is this prunus persica which arrived yesterday. Its about 5ft tall and trunk is 1/2 to 3/4 inch at the base.

First question is how do I give it a good start here in my garden given its journey? It arrived lowith moist soil and looks healthy enough, apart from a bit of leaf curl which I picked out. Is keeping it well watered in a shady spot and in the same pot the best thing to do for the first couple of weeks or can it take some sun?

Secondly, I’d like to try to bonsai it eventually. It will clearly need a drastic chop at some point, but when and where? I’ve looked online and not much on peach bonsai possibly due to the leaves and propensity for disease etc. Does anyone have experience?

Much appreciated!

Reckon I'd plant it out and grow peaches and airlayers!

I have not done well with peach as bonsai. They are subject to many pests and diseases and have coarse growth habit so it can be frustrating to try to make a neat bonsai from peach.
Much better as a garden plant IMHO
