Hey tree fam! I'd like to show you my potentilla. This is one years growth and trim. She's still recovering from a savage rabbit assault from last year but she's strong and resilient. 9 years old.

Potentilla make for great bonsai! They are an alpine shrub that is cytokinin dominant. They produce lively flowers from spring to summer. Mine is yellow but they come in different colours too. I love their flaky bark and their tenancy to back bud like a monster. Wiring these fine branches gives you great practice with a huge pay off 😃

I'd love any feedback or to hear your own potentilla stories!

Cytokinin and auxin are two key phytohormones in plant production. Auxin accelerates apical dominance and cytokinin accelerates axillary bud growth. Generally, if there is a dwarf variety to a plant that is a good indicstor that this cultivar is cytokinin dominated.

So .. cyto dominated means is grows low and bushy
