IMG_2017.jpg what size pot should I get for a Japanese maple that I'm buying. I posted some question in the general forum about buying it and I'm going to. Just need to know what size pot for this tree. It's 11" tall and 12" wide. 2yrs old.

If you want to grow it thick u should use the biggest pot you can find or put it in the ground.

From being in the same situation in the past, you will be unhappy with that tree in a year or two. That graft is brutal and it may not bother you now, as soon as you develop any kind of appreciation for what a bonsai is, you will learn it is probably unfixable. I would look for a smooth tapered trunk as big as you can afford, the rest you grow. On the other hand, if you think this tree will make you happy and just want something to learn on, go for it. If nothing else it will help your bonsai palate develop.
