Pomegranate Varieties

Hey all, really enjoying pomegranate trees for bonsai and started to wonder what varieties you guys have used. I am always in search of a Nejikan but what other varieites of pomegranates have you guys used?

My only experience with pomegranates is this baby Evergreen's Red Dwarf that I bought from Evergreen Gardenworks a few months ago. This isn't useful information, but I was really excited to see it starting to bloom, so I decided to share a picture anyway.

I've got a few of the Twisted Trunk variety that I'm growing out to thicken the trunk. Many years before i'll really start working on the branches-this pic is from Jan 2023. Evergreen Gardenworks does or did have several varieties for sale.

Do the world a favor and propagate some cuttings! This one is pretty hard to come by.

I once had an emperor (sob) I have had loads of Nana, I got a white flowering/fruiting one from a San Gabriel nursery in LA. I had an Evergreen red dwarf from Brent. and Several others from Brent over the years.

It was not quite as vigorous as the others but the flowers were beautiful! The one I had would have needed to be a medium-sized or larger bonsai. Go for it pomes are the best.

Let me just put another plug out for anyone that may have an emperor. Let's work something out for a cutting!
