Hey all, new to the forum, not sure if this is the right place to post. Can anyone ID this guy for me? I bought it from a Penjing show last year from someone who didn't speak English. I'm trying to figure out whether I should winter it indoors or outdoors. It had a mite infestation last winter so I kept it inside and it exploded in the spring.

I have three possibilities for you.
1. Lonicera nitida, a honeysuckle
2. A Buxus of some sort, probably tropical
3. Carmona retusa, Fukien Tea tree, a tropical

Hopefully someone better at identification will be able to give you a better answer.
If you add your general location to your profile, it helps us to answer the questions you may have.
Also, for identification, more pics of the foliage, trunk and branches, overall shape, and the nebari (root flare at the base of the trunk) would likely give you better/more accurate answers. Welcome to the forum!

Lonicera Nitida is it, I've been staring at different boxwoods all summer knowing it wasn't that. Thank you so much, now I can figure out winter care for it!

I'll go Lonicera nitida too. Very tough. Can come back from hard pruning and will survive really drastic root pruning. I just recently dug a heap of these that were a hedge the owner wanted gone.

The grassy plants on the soil look cute but are very invasive. I'd urge you to try to get rid of that before it spreads everywhere and takes over.

Yea the poor little guy had spider mites when I picked it up, went on holiday and came back to it covered in mites in my quarantine room. As far as I can tell this guy isn't very frost hardy, I've never seen it before in British Columbia so I'll be keeping it around 55-70 inside.

I'm going to leave those little grass fellas in with it unless the honeysuckle shows signs of stress. They make a gorgeous carpet, they're already all over the grounds of our townhouse and from the ones I've pulled up their roots aren't too aggressive. I'll be repotting the guy in the spring and if I see any concerns I'll just get rid of it.
I appreciate the concern though, and the heads up!

If you you could ID the weed grass, I'd really appreciate it. It grows as individual plants about an inch across, finishing in a small white flower(2mm wide) that bursts seed pods like wisteria in August. It grows mostly in cracks in concrete, I haven't seen it in any nearby wilderness areas but it is very common in urban areas of the lower mainland of BC. I've gone through every weed list I could find, and spoken to a few plant friends and none of them knew. The ones I have in the bonsai pot, I cut the flowers this year so I haven't seen any additional plants spring up in the pot. I'll take a better picture of them tomorrow. Thanks for the help everyone!

Your little grass is irish moss (sagina subulata). It looks beautiful. but it's very invasive. I would kill them all.....

Thanks for the ID, getting rid the irish moss this weekend. There is nothing but moss and lichen in my other trees, are there any mosses or lichens I should be concerned about in the pacific northwest?
