My first yamadori. This little pinyon is doing well. The longer needles you see are last year's growth.
First picture shows a top down view. Starting at the red line, there is an upper branch that splits into two long, ropey branches.
Below that top branch there is a lot of new growth and some new buds (yellow arrow).
This is what the tree looks like with the top branch hidden.
What do you think? Chop off that lanky top branch at the red line? That would leave a tree that is 9" tall.
