I have trays with several types of seeds I want to cold stratify naturally over winter. Some of them have recently germinated and last night we had our first frost. The soil is frozen solid and I was wondering if there is any way I can help the already germinated seedlings survive the winter or continue with the process as is? All advice welcome!

It's a good way to do a selection on frost resistance.
I'm a fan of not keeping plants protected over winter, because I don't plan on doing that every year. So I pick frost hardy species and I keep them in the cold, no protection.

Most seedlings are so loaded with sugars that they aren't bothered by frost though.

Sweet. That was my plan all along but then I felt sorry for them once the frost came 😄 I'll report back in spring.
